Artist
Aaron Elvis Jupin
Born in 1991, Aaron Elvis Jupin resides and creates in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Raised between the fantastical realms of Disneyland and Hollywood, Jupin’s technical prowess grew from spray-painting skate decks and learning from his uncle, animator Andrew Brandou. He carries on the grotesque and surreal traditions of American artists like Ray Johnson, the Chicago Imagists, and Robert Overby. A recurring element in his art is spit, splashed and dripping over unrelated images, adding a human, abject quality to his abstractions. Working in his Los Angeles studio, Jupin’s recent works respond to the uncertainty of our times — from climate change’s daunting impact to the introspection forced upon us by periods of quarantine.
