Jairo Alfonso

Jairo Alfonso’s artistic journey has led him to explore material culture from an archaeological viewpoint, manifesting in paintings, sculptures, installations, and mixed media on paper. Recently, he has concentrated on our connection to objects – how we accumulate and dismantle them.

In his 2021 series, “Endoscopic Landscapes,” Alfonso utilizes endoscopic imagery to capture object internals, transforming them into evocative canvases that hint at dystopian micro-ruins. This series commenced with radios and TVs from the 1970s, named after Caribbean indigenous groups.
